Benzene formation in the inner regions of protostellar disks

چکیده
Benzene (c-C6H6) formation in the inner 3AU of a protostellar disk can be efficient, resulting in high abundances of benzene in the midplane region. The formation mechanism is different to that found in interstellar clouds and in protoplanetary nebulae, and proceeds mainly through the reaction between allene (C3H4) and its ion. This has implications for PAH formation, in that some fraction of PAHs seen in the solar system could be native rather than inherited from the interstellar medium. Coronae & Outflows from Helical Dynamos, Compatibility with the MRI, and Application to Protostellar Disks
Magnetically mediated disk outflows are a leading paradigm to explain winds and jets in a variety of astrophysical sources, but where do the fields come from? Since accretion of mean magnetic flux may be disfavored in a thin turbulent disk, and only fields generated with sufficiently large scale can escape before being shredded by turbulence, in situ field production is desirable. Nonlinear hel...
متن کاملMolecular Line Emission from Massive Protostellar Disks: Predictions for Alma and the Evla
We compute the molecular line emission of massive protostellar disks by solving the equation of radiative transfer through the cores and disks produced by the recent radiation-hydrodynamic simulations of Krumholz, Klein, & McKee. We find that in several representative lines the disks show brightness temperatures of hundreds of Kelvin over velocity channels ∼ 10 km s wide, extending over regions...
متن کاملThe radial structure of protostellar accretion disks: influence of jets
Context. The radial structure of accretion disks is a fundamental issue regarding star and planet formation. Many theoretical studies, focussing on different aspects such as e.g. disk emissivity or ionization, have been conducted in the context of the Standard Accretion Disk (SAD) model, where no jet is present. Aims. We wish to calculate the structure of YSO accretion disks in an approach that...
متن کاملThe chemistry of planet-forming regions is not interstellar.
Advances in infrared and submillimeter technology have allowed for detailed observations of the molecular content of the planet-forming regions of protoplanetary disks. In particular, disks around solar-type stars now have growing molecular inventories that can be directly compared with both prestellar chemistry and that inferred for the early solar nebula. The data directly address the old que...
متن کاملThe Physics of Star Formation : Understanding
We propose to bring the power of NGST to bear on one of the most important problems in star formation { understanding protostellar formation from parent molecular cores and subsequent evolution towards becoming young stars. A few extremely young (10 < < 10 yr) protostars have nally been discovered with sub-millimeter telescopes in recent years, but the high extinctions (Av > 400 mag) towards th...
